Grandma's Spot Remover

Stains.......stains, stains, stains....and more stains!  Everytime I do laundry what do I see......STAINS!  I think that this family of three is the messiest bunch on the face of the earth...or the most uncoordinated.  We are forever staining our clothes, and I'm not talking little tiny dirt smudges.  I am talking full out grease and grime, spaghetti sauce, ketchup, ink pen, crayons, makeup...you name it....it sticks to the Littlefield's.

I happen to have come across a little secret thanks to Santa.  You see, Santa dropped this little bottle of stain remover into my stocking two years ago....and I have had a MAJOR crush on Santa ever since.  You know who you are Santa.....I love you and my laundry loves you too!  Ever since the laundry gods shined upon me that bright Christmas morning....I feel like I can conquer almost anything that lands in my laundry basket.  I no longer cringe upon seeing a dried set in clothing stain, because I have Grandma's Secret Spot Remover!  I love this stuff.....TOTALLY....LOVE THIS STUFF!  It has saved me so much money over the past two years with clothing that I would have surely had to toss in the rag box.  A 2 fl oz bottle will typically last me 6 months and can be found at Cracker Barrel Country Stores, Hancock Fabrics, and online.  I have yet to find anything that this little gem won't get clean.  It's awesome and I highly recommend this product...however, not great for treating large areas due to the applicator tip.

The bottle is very small, but should last you a long time.  The applicator is an 'ink pen' style tip that helps to penetrate the fibers of badly stained garments.  Another secret that I have....if you find a large stained area....pretreat with your regular stain remover (such as a Shout Gel or Oxy Clean) and run it through the wash.....if you see any stain left over that the first stain remover missed....hit it a lick with Grandma's and send the stained clothing through the wash again.  One application is usually all it takes!  Made in the USA too!

Sunscreen For Kiddos

If your kids are like my kiddo Parker (my pasty white blonde haired, blue eyed, first born, cracker baby)...they have sensitive skin. Parker or Park as I sometimes refer to him as, is very sensitive to products applied directly to his skin. This sensitivity becomes multiplied to the 19th power when he is exposed to heat and those baby pores open up.

The summer of 2008, Parker had just celebrated his first birthday and we were living in Abita Springs, LA. I thought it would be a great idea to get him a blue plastic pool as a birthday present...every kid in the South has a blue plastic pool...it's a right of passage, and Grandpa can use it to cover the broken riding lawnmower that has been dead for three years, parked under the oak trees with three foot weeds shooting up through the foot rests. Ahhhhh! Besides, copperheads need a place to winter over and nothing says comfort like a pool.

Back to sunscreen...with our new blue plastic pool full of sparkling water and ready for family fun...I apply the Water Babies SPF 50 (No. 1 pediatrician recommended brand) sunblock. No damaging rays were going to burn my baby...remind me to show you pictures of how dark I used to be during the summertime...the girls at cheer camp wanted to know who the only black girl was on the Greenwood squad. Baby boy is lathered up in his Water Babies and is having a splashing good time in his pretty pool...15 minutes into the fun, I notice Baby looks different. What's wrong with Baby, he's splotchy...he's bright red and splotchy...is that a red hand print I see...is that MY red hand print that I see?

Panic sets in and a million things begin to run through a new mothers mind...how bad is it, should I call Posion Control, the neighbors are going to think I slapped him...get in the house, let's try to get this off of you, get in the bath tub, should I use soap to get it off, crap, is the tub cleaned out, do I even have a clean washrag, crap....pause and breath...crap!

We survived the Water Babies incident, and Posion Control or SCAN didn't have to be called...whew! At his next pediatrician appointment, I asked what I could use for sunscreen for my sensitive skinned Parker. She recommened BABY LIZZARD AUSTRALIAN SUNSCREEN. It is Made In The USA!!! CHEMICAL FREE and FRAGRANCE FREE!!! I had to special order it from the pharmacy department at Walgreen's. I bought the 3 oz bottle for $9.75...it's a little pricy, but we have to use something. It has been heaven in a bottle for Parker and I highly recommend it for older kids and adults too! We were outside today planting flowers in the full afternoon sun for three hours..he is golden tan and not a bit red. I love the stuff and it would be a great present for an expecting Mama!
